Liberia is one of the youngest countries in the world—6 out of every 10 people are under 25, and nearly half of those are under the age of 14. It’s a nation filled with potential, but for many students, that potential is cut short. Only one in three students who begin high school finish.
The reasons are complex. Social expectations, limited school access, and economic hardship create barriers that are difficult to overcome. For many families, the cost of school is simply out of reach, and young people are often forced to leave the classroom to help support their households.
At Universal Outreach, we believe that education is opportunity—and opportunity changes everything.
That’s why we created our high school scholarship program. By covering tuition, uniforms, books, and exams, we remove the financial burden that keeps so many students from finishing school. And the results speak for themselves: 96% of the students in our program graduate from high school.
Right now, we’re supporting 29 high school students through our scholarship program. This September, we want to double that number.
